Looking at patterns in nature has the same influence on our emotions as listening to classical music!
Step 1: Stand or sit in an area where you have a good view of the entire tree.
Step 2: Take your time to notice the how the entire tree is mostly made up from repeated shapes. Start by looking at the trunk. Move your way up following one of the branches. See how it splits in a way that is similar to the previous branch. Follow this pattern until you reach the end of tree’s canopy.
Step 3: Now notice the tree’s bark. It too has repeated patterns. Move closely to the tree trunk and feel the bark’s texture. How does it feel?
Step 4: If there are leaves, take your time to notice the how the entire leaf is mostly made up from the same basic shape repeated over and over again. Look at the very smallest leaflets on the end. See how they are repeating the same pattern across the leaf.
Step 5: Look around your immediate area. What other types of repeated patterns can you find?
Stay with viewing patterns as long as you like but aim for between 2-4 minutes.
